300 Seconds: Customer Mailing List

If you have just 5 minutes to spend on your marketing efforts today, spend it thinking about your customer mailing list.

Your existing customers are your greatest asset, so take just a minute or two when you’re ringing out their purchases to update your database. Ask if they still live on Oak Avenue. Confirm that they still have a land line in addition to their mobile number. If they have an non-traditional spelling for their name, ask if it’s correct. (We like it when our names are spelled correctly.) And be sure to ask for their e-mail address. Many will argue that social media is taking the place of e-mail, but as long as social media platforms continue to use e-mail addresses as login IDs and as a vehicle for activity alerts, they remain relevant and valuable.
