300 Seconds: Restrooms
While it feels as though this subject should be filed under the “unmentionables” category, it needs to be addressed: the restroom. You already know that the state of your restroom–public or private–is a reflection of your store.
But what does this have to do with marketing? You have a, well, um… captive audience. First, take five minutes today to hang some of your event posters on the door or the walls of your restroom. If you already do this, make sure they are up to date. Also, this is a great place to hang publisher-provided posters. And if your walls are in really bad shape, you might want to consider affixing posters with an adhesive, layer upon layer like wallpaper.
Or have fun. One of my favorite “restroom” treatments is this sign, enhanced by Deb at the Reading Reptile in Kansas City, MO. Is it effective? “I’d never attributed it to the sign before, but they do flush,” says Deb. “Maybe the sign helps.”
