300 Seconds: Schedule Some Social Time

Sometimes working over the weekend at the bookstore can have a different feel than working during the week. Not only do you see various customers that might not be able to stop by during the week, but the staff on hand and tasks can have a different rhythm as well.

If you’ve been diligent about posting on social media all week, don’t let any downtime on the weekend break your stride. Instead, take 300 seconds today to schedule a few posts. You can talk about activities happening at your store over the weekend, you can share interesting content you discovered this week, or you can showcase the weekend staff and what they’re reading.

I recommend using the scheduling feature built into Facebook, because the algorithm treats those posts a little better than if they originate in a third party scheduler, like Hoot Suite. With Twitter, I tend to use TweetDeck or Buffer to schedule my tweets.

Activity on social media platforms tends to peak on weekends. Spending 5 minutes on social today means you’ll be part of the mix.
