300 Seconds: Tired Signage

Do you have only 5 minutes to devote to marketing your bookstore today? Take that time and look at the posters and flyers hanging about your store. Are any out of date? Perhaps the message is still timely, but they’re looking rough around the edges?

This is a good time to remove them, even if you don’t have replacements ready to go. Just keep the old signs as a reminder on your to-do stack so you don’t forget to replace them. Now, if you know your to-do stack will never be to-done, just focus on one tired sign at a time. This makes the task less daunting.

Remember to check the front door, foyer, community bulletin board, near the register, etc. Just walk around and try to see the bookstore from your customer’s perspective. Or ask a trusted customer to provide their perspective. The differences in what each of you actually see might surprise you.
