300 Seconds: Your Most Important Audience

When planning events–book signings, trunk shows, music groups, story time–I’m sure you have a checklist ready for the multitude of ways you can spread the word to your customers.

  • Facebook? Check.
  • Twitter? Check.
  • Website? Check.
  • Newsletter? Check.
  • Media? Check.

These platforms are all necessary, but do you know who makes up your most important audience?

Your staff.

Think about it. If somebody calls the store for information about an event only to have the staff scramble to locate information, that’s not the best message relayed the caller. Plus, staff members can help spread the message and their own excitement through their personal social media accounts.

If you only have 5 minutes to spend on marketing today, market to your staff and make sure they are aware of your programs and upcoming events. Not only will this help spread your message, it will be amplified.
