Spring Cleaning: how do you rank?
The calendar says it’s spring, even if nature is arguing the fact. It’s time to do a little spring cleaning.
Today, spend 5 minutes cleaning up your search results by freshening your website.
In addition to building credibility with returning customers, you should keep your website fresh to help with search engine ranking. Google gives better search engine ranking to websites that have fresh content, because people who search Google believe their results are more relevant if they include newly published and updated pages.
Did you know that you can easily see what pages Google has indexed on your site and how popular they are? Simply type “site:booksandwhatnot.com” (except with your bookstore URL) into Google’s search box and hit enter. This will list every one of your pages that Google has in their database, ranked by order of importance. Is the information on the pages correct? Is there anything you don’t want to be listed? Is everything you want to be listed showing up? Update accordingly.
Our website has more than 15 pages of results, and yours might have more. That’s too much to handle at one time. Don’t worry about anything past page 3 right now. Save that for your next free 300 seconds.
