Does your register tape have a space where you can place a message? When is the last time you changed that message? Is it still timely?
If you can remember to change it often, why not promote one of your upcoming events? Or have a list of timeless messages you can rotate. Things like, “Join us for Storytime & Crafts on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m., recommended for ages 3 – 5.” Or perhaps something like, “Are you a member of our Loyalty Program? You should be! Sign up in the store or online at www.yourstore.com.”
Changing these messages can be a bit like changing your light bulbs or your website. Customers do not necessarily notice if they stay the same. But they’ll keep looking if the content continues to change.
