When I was preparing for an event with Chuck Palahniuk, I received a phone call from the man himself. This is how the conversation began:
CP: “Hi Beth. This is Chuck Palahniuk.”
BG: “I’m so glad to speak with you on the phone. Now I know how to officially pronounce your name!”
CP: “I say it wrong.”
