Handselling: Kristopher Jansma

If you were receiving Books & Whatnot around issue 2, you’ll remember this #shelfie that Kristopher Jansma took for me. His book, The Unchangeable Spots of Leopardswas released in paperback this week.

I started handselling this book back in October 2012 when I was still at Watermark, and I can’t stop. After reading the first three chapters, I called customers who shared my reading tastes and told them I was ordering a book for them which would be arriving in about 6 months. Talk about anticipation. Most loved it. Some didn’t. But that’s what makes The Unchangeable Spots of Leopards a good selection for book clubs.

Viking/Penguin implemented a #leopardspotting social media campaign on Instagram and Tumblr. Kristopher has a great website and is also active on Facebook and Twitter. In fact, when he found a Watermark review for his book, he tweeted this shoutout. So engage and tag your favorite authors. It will only help your handselling.
