300 Seconds: Receipt Check

Since today is Friday, I’ll give you an easy “300 Seconds” task to do. Take a look at your receipts going out the door with each purchase.

I always mention the “marketing” message at the bottom… promoting a sale or an upcoming event. Make sure it’s still timely. But also make sure you’re including information to which you want the customer to have easy access. Does your receipt contain store address, website, phone number, hours, return policy, etc.

And now that you’ve included all of the information necessary, double check to make sure it is accurate. A tired bookseller I know kept reprimanding his staff for giving out his cell phone number to random customers, until he realized they were calling the number printed on the receipt… which he set up.
