When I prepare pieces for Books & Whatnot, I try to do a little research to find appropriate author photos and provide author social media links to equip you with tools and whatnot to be a better hand seller. Sometimes (often times) while searching through this marginalia, I fall deeper into the rabbit hole of discovery only to be completely charmed by an author, illustrator, bookstore, etc.
That’s what happened when I tried to locate an photo of Betsy Bowen, author/illustrator of Tracks in the Wild, for America’s review.
I discovered this interview by Dan Olson for Minnesota Public Radio which was published almost exactly one year ago. And I ultimately found Bowen’s website, woodcut.com, which features a 15-image photo essay of her woodblock print process. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Here’s a cute little video with a catchy tune for Silly Wonderful You by Sherri Duskey Rinker, illustrated by Patrick McDonnell.
Before YOU came along, so many things were different! But now there’s a giggly baby, a house full of adventures and toys, a million little surprises. . . and so much love.
Silly Wonderful You comes out on January 5, 2016.
