Melanie Green, owner of Bluebird Books in Hutchinson, KS, has found a way to combine marketing with community support. “Hutchinson proudly claims to be Smallville, the home of Superman. We have a festival every June to celebrate it,” she explains. “We used the Smallville theme when designing our children’s summer reading program.”
Green created a flying books display, and partnered it with the slogan: Be a hero. Read.
She also used the images in social media, using the WordSwag app to superimpose a message on top of the photos. “I have found Wordswag to be a pretty nifty little tool for just such applications,” Green says. “Plus it’s fun too!”
