Favorites of the Year: Auto-reply Messages

When I received this auto-reply message from Daniel Goldin of Boswell Book Company yesterday, it brought back a few memories:

I know you can’t believe a bookseller is traveling in mid-December but one glance at our event calendar (no events) would explain why I’m not here to answer your email. Emergency? Call Boswell at (414) 332-1181 between 10 am to 9 pm. And don’t worry, I’ll be back for the big finish, and of course for John Eastberg’s Pabst Farms talk on December 30. Oh, and I do have some computer time every day, so I well might get back to you very quickly indeed.

Back in February, I wrote a post about Daniel titled The Brilliance of the Auto-Reply Message. It’s been one of our most popular pieces, receiving some of the most hits, shares and mentions.

It is with this in mind that I decided to do my own “best of” series. In the coming days, I’ll bring you a few of our greatest hits. If you’ve been with us since day one, I hope you enjoy these refreshers. And if you’re a new subscriber, I hope you enjoy them.
