When planning events, the million dollar question is often, “How many people will attend?” Facebook might be able to help answer that question.
“What? You’re encouraging me to use Facebook?” That’s what you’re thinking, right? Even though we can’t be assured that everyone who likes our Facebook page will see our posts, we can use the Facebook event tool to gather RSVPs.
I really like the way Word Bookstores gathers RSVPs. In their monthly newsletter and on their website events page, with each event posted they include this text and link:
Facebook RSVP encouraged, but not required.
In addition to posting events for your followers to (potentially) see, if booksellers are encouraged to invite readers through their personal Facebook accounts, and customers are encouraged to invite their friends, the power of Facebook just might be harnessed for the bookstore good.
