Live Window Display at The Bookstore

IMG668The Bookstore at Glen Ellyn, Illinois, does something unique for the holidays: a live window display.

Renee Barker with the store tells me they place a large rocking chair and fake fireplace in the holiday window where customers sit to read as part of the live display, just as customer Catherine Tran is doing in this image.

“They sign up for one hour of reading and when they are finished, we give them a $5 gift certificate,” she says. “All ages are welcome, kids not yet reading on their own can have a parent or older sibling reading to them.”

She added that they receive many double-takes from passers-by.
