One Book, One South

The Southern Independent Book Alliance is hosting an inaugural One Book, One South “event” and their first pick is Citizens Creek by Lalita Tademy.

They created these four banner ads (440×125 px; 125×440 px; 600×150 px; 175×175 px) for bookstores to share in their own newsletters and websites. And they’re hosting a Q & A with Tademy through a Facebook event this Thursday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m. EST.

Book clubs hosted on Facebook are another way to extend the reach of your store. One Book, One South is regional. But you could also look at doing something like this for One Book, One State; One Book, One City; or One Book; One Store.

SIBA chose their book in time to build anticipation while giving readers time to finish the book before the Facebook Book Club Chat. And while SIBA will host the author live, that’s not a requirement for a successful Facebook book club.

If you’re curious about how it works, join in the event on Thursday evening. I plan to be there.
