Oscar Ballot Take-Away
He’s a graphic designer. She’s a calligrapher. Together the husband/wife team of Mark Lerner and Nancy Howell of Phoenicia, NY, decided to create a better Oscar Ballot. They sent it to friends, and invited them to share it “vigorously” through blogs, Facebook, and Twitter.
Carrie Obry, Executive Director of the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association, saw value in this better ballot and shared it on Facebook. I see its value as a sales tool, so I’m posting it here. If you already have an Oscar display, incorporate a stack of these ballots for customers to take and enjoy. Or keep some at the register to use as a talking point. “Have you read any of these books before they were turned into movies?”
Here’s a link to the original PDF for you to use or share.
I also encourage you to click on their names above to visit their respective websites and see some of the work they’ve done on book covers. And if you are able to use the ballot in your stores, I’m sure they’d love to hear about your successes.
