Parent and Educator Whatnot
If you send out a parent/teacher/educator newsletter, here are a few items you might want to include:
Celebrate the book series that helped convert reluctant readers during Wimpy Kid Month. Encourage parents and teachers to visit the Wimpy Kid website for teaching guides that correlate to national standards and benchmarks, information on events, activities, and other resources. Also encourage them to register for the live, interactive webcast with Jeff Kinney where he will reveal the cover, title, and color of Diary of a Wimpy Kid book 9. The live event is April 28 at 9:00 a.m. EST.
The site features great content for bookstores, too. Things like posters, cover images for Facebook, and Wimpy Kid event invitations.
We have a couple of book reviews for you to share as well. Judah Hansen gave me his 10-year-old perspective of The 26 Story Treehouse by Andy Griffiths, illustrated by Terry Denton.
It’s not bathroom humor, but there are lots of laughs due to the silly nature of Terry in general and the zany details within the story.
And I reviewed The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder; a smart, smart book about loyalty and friendship in the face of mental illness.
