I stumbled across this gem of a blog post about the culmination of a roommate prank war. The short story is Brian was duped by his roommate and wanted to get him back in the best way possible. So he used Facebook’s advertising network to serve incredibly targeted and supremely odd Facebook ads. It’s a hilarious read.
But here’s why it’s valuable. Brian was able to make such an impact that he caused his roommate concern. The poor guy thought that he might be going crazy. While I don’t condone driving your customers crazy, think of the potential. Could you focus advertising to people who have “liked” the Hunger Games, within a 20 mile radius of your store? Yes. What can you do with that? Make a book recommendation to them for your store? Yes. But I think that’s just scratching the surface.
