Calendar: Promote Recurring Events
Do you have book clubs that meet on a regular basis? Do you offer Storytime at a certain time each week? Do you post those events in your public calendars? Some of these calendars do not offer a “recurring” feature, and it can be difficult to remember to post these events. But since you never know when somebody is visiting your site or page for the first time, it’s important to make sure these events are up to date.
If you’re an IndieCommerce store affiliated with the American Booksellers Association (ABA), the current calendar module does not allow recurring events; instead you must create recurring events individually. But that’s with the current calendar module. I’ve confirmed with the ABA that recurring events will work in the calendar module when they upgrade the platform in the coming weeks.
Similarly, if you post events on Facebook, you cannot set up a recurring event. But they have made it easier to create repeat events. To create a new event based on an old one, open the old event, click the Gear button in the upper right-hand corner and choose “Create Repeat Event.” It’s not recurring, but it’s not from-scratch either.
