Restroom Tour: The Homer Bookstore
We continue our restroom tour with a stop at The Homer Bookstore in Homer, Alaska. They hired a local artist to paint a sea theme in their restroom 14 years ago.
“This is the most dramatic part,” says Jenny Stroyeck, one of the partners of the bookstore, “but there are also fish above the handicapped rail and jellyfish over the door.”
Stroyeck says that their customers love it… with the exception on one small boy who was afraid of the octopus and wouldn’t go in the room without his mother.
“We don’t advertise in there as we feel some places should be exempt from advertising!” she adds. “We do put IndieBound posters in there about the benefit of shopping locally, etc. as we figure folks might actually stop and read them there.”
