I’m Angry with Merriam-Webster
I blame Mmes. Papke and LaBrue, my junior English and typing teachers who taught me how to overcome commonly misspelled words and how to type them quickly. And now Merriam-Webster is teasing me with their Spell It quiz. Repeatedly.
“10 quick questions: hear them, spell them, and see how your skills compare to the crowd.” During the quiz, they recite 10 words for you to type ask quickly as you can, offering bonus points for speed and difficulty. And then they taunt you. “Try it as often as you’d like (we have many different versions).”
