From My Shelf Books vs. The Evil Empire
When Kevin Coolidge of From My Shelf Books learned that his film-making friend Bill Robertson was returning to Wellsboro, PA, he told him he was always welcome to film in the bookstore.
The two friends collaborated–Kevin as a bookstore owner and Bill as an experienced script writer–and the result was a script for a series to be released on the internet in episodic form. The web series, titled From My Shelf Books vs. The Evil Empire, is about a little bookstore in a rural area, and one man’s struggle to both be creative and keep the lights on.
“Running any small business has its challenges and its conflicts. There was no lack of material,” says Coolidge.
The web series will be posted to the bookstore’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. But the people of Wellsboro were able to preview episodes 1 and 2 this past Monday evening.
The first episode is available for viewing now, and episode 2 will be released next Tuesday, July 8. The are currently filming episode 3 and writing 4.
“We aren’t sure how many we will make,” says Coolidge. “It depends on our director of photography who’s going to college in the fall.”
