The Next IndieNext List.
The August 2014 IndieNext shelf talkers are ready for download.
While we’re in IndieNext mode, nominations for the October 2014 IndieNext List are due next Tuesday, August 5. (If you love a book scheduled for publication beyond October 2014, go ahead and nominate it. The ABA folks will save it for the appropriate list.)
To nominate a title, either use this online form or send an email to indienextlist@bookweb.org. Just write conversationally, as though you’re speaking to a customer. The ABA will fix any grammar or spelling errors–not that you would have any.
In the end, it’s a win-win-win.
- Win. You have access to the opinions of trusted fellow booksellers, because as much as you’d like to read every title, somebody’s got to clean the front windows.
- Win. Your customers clamor for that monthly IndieNext brochure. If your nomination appears, you’ve just earned some bookish street cred.
- Win. If you love a book and take the time to nominate it, publishers will be forever grateful. In fact, send them a copy of your nomination.
And remember, if your nomination appears, share it socially. The chances of somebody re-tooting your horn increase dramatically if you toot it in the first place.
