Wine and Words at Copperfish

Copperfish-Books-Wine-and-WordsHere’s a nifty idea from Serena Wyckoff and Cathy Graham at Copperfish Books in Punta Gorda, Florida. Wine & Words!

The bookstore partners with a local wine bar for an evening that includes wine, appetizers, and book recommendations. The event is ticketed and a portion of the ticket sales is given to a local charity.

When Copperfish hosts their next Wine & Words on Tuesday, November 11th, it will be their eighth time since June 2013. The theme for this event: It’s All About Giving.

“We typically pick a theme of a country or region–France, Italy, Pacific Northwest,” Wyckoff says. “The great folks at the wine bar choose 2 to 3 wines from the region and pair them with 2 to 3 appetizers, while we pick several books to feature and chat about.”

Wyckoff says they give a portion of the ticket sales to a local charity–this time they’re supporting The Yah Yah Girls’ Backpack Kids program which fights childhood hunger–because it’s good to do, but an added benefit is media coverage.

The event locations alternate between Copperfish and the wine bar. Wyckoff says that customers seem to like the change in venue, and it provides “good exposure for both businesses.”
