Track Your Digital & Social Media Goals

If one of your goals for 2015 is to increase your reach through social media, take 5 minutes today to set up a simple goal tracking spreadsheet. You can do this in a program like Excel, or you can write it on the back of a piece of paper pulled from recycling. Whatever works for you.

In the first column, list all of the platforms you want to track:

  • website visitors (unique)
  • blog visitors (unique)
  • e-newsletter subscribers
  • Facebook likes
  • Twitter followers
  • Instagram followers
  • Pinterest followers
  • YouTube channel subscribers

Now, create a column for each month of 2015: January, February, March… you get the idea.

And finally, create a column with your goals for social media engagement. If you want to increase engagement by 25%, take your January number x 1.25. That’s your goal.

Then at the end of each month, fill in your current numbers and compare it to your goal. This way you can see if you’re making progress, or determine if you need to change tactics.
